Open Source Platform
for interconnected virtual worlds
realXtend speeds up the development of the global standardized 3D internet of virtual worlds by making the best technology available to everyone, and entirely free of charge. The true value of the interconnected 3D worlds is in the applications, not the platform.
Do not pay for the technology, invest in content. realXtend can reach the highest possible number of users and developers because it is open source.
realXtend offers a free open source virtual world platform . You can create your own applications using it as a base.
The realXtend server enables you to make your own virtual worlds available to a larger audience. The server comes with a sample world, You can utilise it as it is or modify it to suit your needs. realXtend also offers free, high-quality content for your own worlds.
There are currently two generations of realXtend technology available. 2010 will be the year of the Naali (arctic fox) and Taiga, as the new technology matures and eventually replaces the current realXtend software generation. Naali is a built-from scratch viewer available under the Apache 2 license, Taiga is a continuation and refinement of the original server project (BSD license). The original viewer (GPL license) is still more feature complete, while Naali is the more modular and extensible platform for the future.
